Kogi State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd) has said that the only way we can have state police, the Federal and State Governments must work together for the establishment .

He stated this while speaking on this week’s edition of State of Kogi, a Radio Kogi Audience Participatory Programme monitored by our correspondent in Lokoja.

The establishment of State Police has been a bone of contention in Nigeria over the years with the present administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu showing the political will to use State Policing to stem banditry and other crimes from the country.

The Kogi State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara rtd while speaking on the Programme said, the State Police is doable.

According to him, the present administration in the State has demonstrated the political will for the establishment of the State Police with the planned recruitment of more vigilantes and increment of their salaries as well as absorbing them into the State Civil Service.

He stated that in a bid to strengthen security in Bassa Local Government Area, the state government has approved the rehabilitation of Forward Operating Base in Oguma.

Commander Omodara noted that Government in partnership with Security Agencies is redoubling application and deployment of personnel to handle any emergency.

He expressed appreciation to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for showing passion to issues of security in the State especially the restoration of peace to Bagana in Omala Local Government.

The Security Adviser while assuring of safety of lives and property in the forthcoming yuletide period, appealed to the people of the State to provide security agents with necessary information.

Some callers from Anyigba including Amina, called for improvement of security to reduce activities of thieves.
