Member representing Ajaokuta federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Abdulraheem Sanni Egidi, has described the decision of a former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, to honour the invitation of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as statesmanly.
Speaking with newsmen on the sideline of the launch the Citizens’ Assembly in Lokoja on Wednesday, the Rep member said Bello has always being a firm believer in the rule of law.
“We that had worked with him can testify that he is man that believes in the rule of law. What has been playing out for a while now is just the determination to enforce his fundamental human rights, not because he believes anyone is above the law. Former Governor Yahaya Bello is a respecter of law.
“While many misinterpret his actions, I can say boldly that the former Governor has nothing to hide. He has voluntarily honoured EFCC’s invitation and we expect the commission to be professional,” he said.
Commenting on the launch of Citizens’ Assembly in Kogi state, Hon Sanni Egidi applauded the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Community Engagement (North Central), Mrs. Abiodun Essiet, for the initiative.
The lawmaker noted that the Citizens’ Assembly will help decentralize governance and ensure the voices of people, even at the grassroot, are heard and acted upon.
