The National Vice President of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Doctor Benjamin Jebutu has called on Kogi State Government to accord recognition to Doctor Aazee Jimoh as the authentic Chairman of the State Chapter of the Nigeria Medical Association.

He made the appeal while reacting to infractions hindering smooth running of the Association in Kogi State.

Doctor Benjamin said the Apex body of the Association only recognised Doctor Aazee Jimoh led executives and had issues a letter to that effect to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Commissioner of police and the Chief Medical Director of the Federal Teaching Hospital Lokoja.

He emphasised that others creating division are working against the sanctity of the Association and expressed disappointment over infractions that is almost tearing the Association apart in Kogi State.

The Vice President said the body is led by the National President, Professor Bala Audu who supervise and overrule the affairs of its branches across the country assuring that NMA as one family recognise the Doctor Aazee Jimoh led executive in Kogi State as well Doctor Baoku Olusola as an Ex officio member of NMA, having successfully served as the immediate past Chairman of the Association.

In his reaction, the immediate past State Chairman of the Association, Doctor Baoku Olusola said the Association is facing internal crises due to stereotype interest and divergent opinion.

Doctor Baoku said he has remained an agitator as constitutionally mandated by the Association for good welfare package as well as quality health care delivery.

He said the National body of the Association has intervane in the crises, putting the record straight in regards to Kogi NMA election and the emergence of Doctor Aazee Jimoh as the Chairman.

Contrary to this however, the Chairman of the other group, Doctor Abubarkar Hassan said he was duly elected by members of the Association on the 10th of August 2024 in accordance to the bye laws of the Association.

He also emphasised that Kogi issue has been raised at the National Executive Council meeting of the Association with the hope for amicable solution by December 2024.
