THE kogi state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has emerged winner of the All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship primary conducted on Thursday by scoring 3,224 votes.
The event which took place at the state confluence stadium Lokoja saw APC delegate from all the 21 local government councils in attendants.
When the primary was finally conducted, Governorship Yahaya Bello Scores 3, 224 Votes, Irukera came second with 109 votes while Hassan Abdulai Benwa came third with 44 votes.
Yahaya Audu scored 10 votes, Sani Lulu scored 7 votes, Bashir Gegu scored 3 votes while the likes of
Iyoma Hadiza, Danlami, Yakubu Mohammed and Blessing Ekele scorer 0 vote.
Meanwhile, Senator Smart Adeyemi has described as masterstroke the emergence of Governor Yahaya Bello as the APC flag bearer for the November 16 governorship election.
The former Kog West Senator spoke in Lokoja after the Governor Badaru election panel declared Bello as winner of Thursday primary.
Adeyemi said the buss the governor emergence elicit around the state capital is a pointer that he his well accepted by the people and the best option for the party.
He said it was not surprising Bello emerged with such hugh difference amidst other 9 aspirants because he has taken the party and the state to an enviable height.
“Governor Yahaya Bello will win the general governorship elections in the same manner in wins the primary.
“Wining elections is not an internet affairs but acceptability by the people based on convictions through stakeholders across the political entity.
“Governor Bello is a man of covenant from God, such people will not be confronted by men with mere wisdom.
“Winning the November poll has become simpler with the governor holding the flag of the party in view of his sterling first term performance.”
Adeyemi however urged other aspirants to accept the convincing decision of the delegates who voted immensely for Bello, and rally round for the general election, stressing that they should take the outcome in spirit of sportsmanship
