The former Governor of Kogi State, Chief Clarence Olafemi on Saturday clocked 70 years.
A strong member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state
was born in Mopa.
He started his primary School in Mopa and later went to Abdul Aziz Attah Memorial College AAMCO in Okene and after competing his secondary education he proceeded to ABU Zaria and graduated with First Class Honors in Computer/Mathematics
He worked in Bauchi as a Civil Servant, later proceeded to Ralign Industries worked at Airliquid Industries Lagos.
He attended so many courses in Nigeria and abroad.
Started his political career when he was elected as member of Kogi State House of Assembly representing Mopa/Amuro under Alliance for Democracy ((AD) and became the Minority Leader in the House.
He later decamped to the People’s Democratic Party from Alliance for Democracy and because of his quality leadership he became Speaker of the House.
While in office as Speaker, he later served as the Governor of the State for some months following Court rulings which ordered for fresh givernorship election between Alhaji Ibrahim Idirs and late Prince Abubakar Audu.
He was nominated as Dep Governorship candidate for PDP but it did not materialize following dispute in the party
He join APC and won election for Late Abubakar Audu
Supported the decision to bring Yahaya Bello as Governor by APC following the demise of Audu.
Infact he was the only leader not from Kogi Cetral to accept GYB
As he followed him to INEC to receive his Certificate of Return
He left APC back to PDP when GYB team decided not to work with him.
He indicated to contest the Senate seat for Kogi West But has to back out following the PDP decision to allow Dino Melaiye to pick it.
He was the Director Presidential Campaign Council Kogi
He’s one of the very few to remain in Lokoja among political leaders.
He’s into philanthropic job by assisting indigent children around Aniebo Estate, Gadumo village and beyond.
He’s called Obembe for his free will to give.
