Kogi state First Lady, Rashida Bello has visited over ten IDPs camps within the state capital Lokoja and other places disturbed by the massive floods that have submerged hundreds of houses and farmland across the state.

Rashida Bello provided foodstuffs, blankets, rappers, torchlights, beverages and cash to cushion the suffering the people are going through.

Beneficiaries described her as a mother who cares for their wellbeing. They commended the state Governor Yahaya Bello for his earlier intervention to provide temporary places for them to stay until their flooded homes dry off.

Hajia Rashida Bello has distributed goods and cash worth millions of naira to the victims. She promised to stand by them at all times.

“It is the responsibility of any government to make life beautiful for the people and my husband, the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello will do everything possible to cushion the suffering they are going through.

We are going through this together. We will not leave you alone”

Rashida Bello also joined the wife of the inspector general of police and the president Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) Hajara Alkali Baba to visit flood victims at their camps within lokoja and distributed relief materials.

The IG Police wife, Hajara Alkali Baba sympathised with the people, as she donated lots of foodstuffs, mattresses, and other none consumables worth twenty-five million naira.

She appreciated the state governor and his wife for their supports.

Thereafter, the First lady visited the Reference Hospital, Okene, Rashida Bello insects all departments including the mammography unit, and wards.

She expressed satisfaction. Assured Nigerians that as soon as the hospital is ready and commissioned to function, it will be open to everybody within the state, Nigeria and international to access medical care.

Rashida Bello said ” We assure Nigerians that as soon as the place is fully functional, we are going to perform wonders here.

We have all the departments that you cannot just find here but overseas.
We have everything here and is not narrowed down to certain people, is for everybody, vulnerable ones and the middle class, people like us to the glory of God. So, is open to all kinds.

“This is a clear case, this is a world-class and of course, we are not going back on the quality of medication that will be offered in this facility and we have a lot of departments that are not really common, like Hyperbaric oxygen therapy, I think we are the second to have it in the whole of West Africa which is a big pass.

So, we are open to more collaboration with international partners and any other body that is interested in joining us because our aim is to be the best. There would be any need to travel overseas for medical attention”

The Commissioner for women affairs, Fatima Kabir-Buba, Director General, Pension Commission, Mariam Abedo and Permanent Member, Kogi State Health Insurance Agency, Aisha Nana Abu-Ali were among her entourage at the Flood Victims IDPs camps and Reference Hospital, Okene.
