NG-CARES: Kogi State government flag off over 45 basic service infrastructure in Kogi communities

The Kogi State government World Bank Assisted Kogi State Community and Social Development Agency has flag off over 45 different Basic Service rural infrastructure across 26 rural communities the State.
The Agency which is one of the delivery platforms in Kogi State is implementing 1.4 -Basic Services provision in four Key sectors of Water provision, Health Care, Education and Nutrition.
The General Manager, Chief Dauda Momoh announced this on Tuesday in Okene at the Opening Ceremony of the Pre-Project Implementation Training for various Community Project Management Committees (CPMCs), Community Development Association members and Members of various project implementation Sub-committees drawn from communities across the senatorial Districts in Kogi State.
The CPMC members are to be responsible for the implementation of the project which the various communities have prioritized during the community’s Participatory Rural Appraisal visit to these communities by the Agency.
The communities that are amongst the 26 communities whose project are scheduled to be flagged off immediately after this training are Bagido-Omowa (Yagba East LGA) and Asunta (Kabba-Bunu LGA) in the Kogi West Senatorial District while Adavi-Egba (Adavi LGA), Eika Ohizeyin (Okehi LGA ) and Ogori Communities (Ogori-Magongo LGA) drawn from Kogi Central.
Other communities are Gboloko (Bassa), Angwa-Agebe (Ankpa) and Ochadamu ( Ofu) communities are all set to receive the grant for their various communities projects planned to reduce the poverty level of these communities and also cushion the economic impact caused by the dislocation caused by the locked down or other restrictions as a result of the Nigeria COVID-19 pandemic.
Chief Momoh praised the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for his support to the NG-CARES Programme, he described the Governor as one of supportive Governors in Nigeria to this project targeted at moving hundreds of million out of poverty in the two-year programme cycle.
Chief Momoh who was visibly elated expressed the appreciation of the various rural communities and Vulnerable Groups to the Governor who he described as a Champion of Rural Development.
Detailed presentations were made at the Training to include Overview of NG-CARES (including the Programme Development Objective (PDO)/Community Driven Development (CDD) Concept); Key issues in CDP/GrDP Formulation, Gender & Vulnerable Issues Mainstreaming; Financial Management, Bookkeeping; Participatory Monitoring & Evaluation; Community Contracting & Procurement; Operations, Maintenance and Project Sustainability; Environmental Management & Social Safeguard; Grievance Redress Mechanism; Grievance Redress Mechanism; Report Writing and Documentation amongst others.
