Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazak of Kwara State has assurerd of government continued support to Shonga Farms in Edu local government Area of the state.
He made the pledge at third Unity Anniversary Celebrations of Valentine Chickens held at the Shonga Primary School open field on Saturday, 19th March 2022.
Represented by the Managing Director, Harmony Holdings, Mallam Abdullahi Abdulmajeed, the Governor said the state government would look into some critical issues about Shonga Farm with a view to giving sustained support to the project.
He lauded the management of Valentine Chickens for deploying shrewed management skills towards making the business a growing concern.
The government, Governor Abdulrazaq affirmed, “would do everything possible to create the enabling environment for the company in the area of infrastructure, including security and roads”
He said the government was aware of the roles the company is playing in reducing unemployment, which is central to insecurity and communal conflict.
In his comment, the Managing Director of Valentine Chickens, Mr Batus Kirstein appealed to the government to address the cost of Diesel which has risen astronaunomically in the past weeks.
He lamented that the running cost of the company had been unstable due to the energy challenges which is critical to the survival of the company.
“We run a 24 hours business which consumes large quantity of Diesel and other component raw materials. This he said has had backlash effects on patronage, leading to consumers resistance”
Representative of Shonga Emirate Descendsants Union, Manzuma Kafiyaro, who stood in for the Union’s President, appreaciated the government and the management of Valentine Chickens for sustaining peace in the Emirate through the Unity Anniversary celebrations.
He pleaded with the company to entrench welfare packages through health Insurance Scheme, Scholarships for indigenes of the Emirate, regular trainings, provisions of social amenities and broad-based Corporate Social Responsibilities [CSR].
