The Ebira Education Trust Fund has awarded scholarships to well deserving four beneficiaries, two each at the Masters and Doctor of Philosophy Categories from Kogi central senatorial district.
This was contained in the address of Prof Muhammed Audu, FMAN
Chairman, Board of Trustees, Ebira Education Trust Fund, during the
Scholarships Award Ceremony Held on 5th of December, 2021 at Dabras Hotel Wuse 2, Abuja
He said he was particularly delighted that the first anniversary of the Trust Fund coincided with the award of scholarships to the deserving persons from the Central senatorial district.
According to him, Ebira Education Trust Fund for Kogi Central youths was conceptualized and launched by Ebira Youth Congress, (EYC), as a potent avenue by which frontiers of knowledge could be further widened
He commended the magnanimity of Mr Austin Oniwon, Late Justice Moses A Bello, Alh Dr. Sanusi Abubakar Gamji, Dr. Philip Salawu among others for sponsoring the education of pupils and students of Kogi Central.
“I urge them to continue in the spirit they have started. Without their efforts, we may in future, not have people to sponsor in the categories we are making awards today. May God Almighty replenish their pockets and reward them richly.
He equally noted that without the financial contributions of personalities like; Engr. Joseph Oyeyani Makoju, Alhaji Dr. Sanusi Abubakar, Comrade Muhammed Ali, Prof Marietu Tenuche and Engineer Sumaila Akaba, today’s award ceremony wouldn’t have been held:
“We’ll ever remain grateful to them all for their unique and memorable contributions.
“Ebira Youth Congress (EYC) conceptualized and launched Ebira Education Trust Fund for Kogi Central youths as a potent avenue by which frontiers of knowledge could be further widened. The underlying rationale and beauty of the scheme is actually intended to speak to a bourgeoning crop of quality intellectuals of diverse disciplines to emerge from among our youths in the next few years courtesy of the Trust Fund.
“The core mandate of he Trust Fund does not qualify the youths to run it by themselves, which is why the BoT was carefully constituted by the same youths from across the five Local Government Councils of Kogi Central Senatorial District at an enlarged EYC Congress held at Okene. A maiden Ebira Education Summit was later held at Lokoja in December 2020 to officially unveil and launch Ebira Education Trust Fund whose membership cuts across diverse intellectuals and philanthropists of Kogi Central Extraction, here present today.
“May I please plead with all others who made pledges towards award of scholarships for our Masters & Doctor of Philosophy students to kindly redeem same without further delay. Furthermore, our mandate permits us to request and accept contributions from Kogi State Political Appointees of Ebira Extraction, and contractors working in Kogi Central. We shall be knocking at their doors in due course for collection of their dues.
“Ladies and gentlemen here present, and our beloved Anebiras at home and in diaspora. Investigations and findings reveal that our primary and secondary public schools at home don’t presently have the usual compliments of students population as in the past. This calls for concern. We hereby call on well wishers of Anebira to come to our aid to stem this ugly trend, as government alone cannot shoulder all the responsibilities of public schools.
“We can’t thank you enough, members of BoT of Ebira Education Trust Fund, whose novel contributions made today’s award ceremony a huge success. May God Almighty continue to bless you all. With best wishes to see you all succeed at the highest level of your endeavours.
“My special thanks also go to members of the Technical Committee on Selection of Candidates for the Masters & Doctor of Philosophy degrees. You did a marvelous job. We’re proud of you all.
“Finally, hearty congratulations to all the beneficiaries. Please don’t betray the trust reposed on you.
One of the beneficiaries,Yahaya Otori Muhammed,, PHD student, Atmospheric Pyhsics, at Federal University Akure, who gave the vote of thanks on behalf of others,
said his previous degrees was achieved by selling tomatoes, onions and doing other menial jobs.
He commended the Ebira Education Trust Fund for the scholarship award, saying that they will remain grateful for this gesture.
He lamented that he was almost frustrated out of his PhD Programme because of financial difficulty, adding that after the first registration, the second one is due but no money to move forward before this scholarship award came.
Other beneficiaries includes; Abdulmalik Omeiza, Solid State Physics, Okehi LGA, Jatto Abdulsamad Ozovehe, Okene LGA M.Tech Applied Mathematics
and Aliyu Halimat Dauda, Adavi LGA, M.Tech, Entrepreneurship and Business Studies.
Those in attendance includes Engr. Joseph Makogu, Dr. Phillips Salawu, Prof S.A Jibril from ATBU, Bauchi and Prof Angela Okatahi among others.
