Patriots for Growth and Development Initiatives (PGDI) has commended the Executive Director/ Chief Executive National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Dr Faisal Shuaib in addressing diseases ranging from malnutrition, polio, covid19 and other globally recognised ailments ravaging third world countries.
The Executive Director, (PGDI) Isaac Nasim Salami in a press statement issued on Wednesday which copy was made available to Kogiflame in Lokoja, noted that they appreciate the collaborative efforts of the agency with its local and international counterparts in addressing diseases ranging from malnutrition, polio, covid19 and other globally recognised ailments ravaging third world countries.
According to the statement, since his appointment in 2017 by President Muhammadu Buhari to head NPHCDA, he has brought his wealth of experience to bear in the visible transformation and great successes evident at the agency. It is therefore not surprising that Dr Faisal Shuaibu was recently reappointed by Mr President for another term in office.
“The reappointment of Dr Shuaib as the executive director and chief executive officer of NPHCDA was not just a regular ritual of government, his reappointment was as a result of the worthy strides and hard work that has improved greatly, the basic policies and programmes of the primary and secondary healthcare sectors of Nigeria.
“The success of NPHCDA under the result-driven leadership of Dr Shuaib is evident in the collaborative efforts of the agency with its local and international counterparts in addressing diseases ranging from malnutrition, polio, covid19 and other globally recognised ailments ravaging third world countries.
“Since the pronouncement and certification of Nigeria as polio free by the World Health Organisation (WHO) on the 25th of August, 2020, Nigerians have been rolling out drums to celebrate the feat as a major milestone in the fight against infectious diseases in Nigeria,” he stated.
The group stressed that they are unaware that it was the Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, NPHCDA, who piloted the campaigns for eradication of the infectious disease. Dr Faisal Shuaib, was the architect of the country’s success.
They stressed further that under the leadership of Dr. Shuaib, Nigeria attained up to 70% immunization coverage, a great leap from the 33% before his appointment.
“He was able to use his accumulated experience gotten over the years in making sure the states and all the 774 local government areas in Nigeria achieved routine immunisation by ensuring that the supply of critical infrastructures got to hard-to-reach areas of Nigeria.
