A group of youth in All Progressive Congress (APC) Kwara state chapter, operating on the platform of “The integrity forum” has called on the security agencies to be on alert amid threatening by some youth group within the party to disrupt the registration/revalidation exercise in the state.
The group made the call in Ilorin, kwara state capital while addressing the Journalists at the press centre, through its spokesperson, Malam Babafila Abdullateef said “ It has come to our notice that some disgruntled members of our great party All Progressive Congress (APC) under the leadership of former APC State chairman are planning to distrupt the oncoming membership registration/revalidation exercise”
“According to our very reliable source, APC rebels who are loyal to the former Kwara State APC chairman, Hon Bashir Bolarinwa are planning to cause mayhem with the intent of disrupting the incoming membership registration exercise which is slated to commence on 2nd February 2021”
“This coming barely two weeks after some youth elements loyal to some party chieftains addressed a news briefing where they threatened to disrupt the party’s registration exercise. While we condemn such baseless resort to threats and anti-party behaviour, we urge these people to let peace reign. There are other Kwarans who are apolitical and it would be unacceptable for anyone to disrupt public peace on account of their own political ambitions and ‘me-or-nobody’ mentality”
The group, under its coordinator, Mr Pascal Saliu Muhammed, however,
call on all the security agencies in the State to be on alert, said “ We also have enough hints about who is behind what if anything untowards happens in the course of the exercise”
“The peaceful atmosphere which we have been enjoying under the current government in Kwara State is unnegotiable”
The group also called on the innocent members of the party in the state to follow the directives of the party said “All law abiding old and new members of the party should follow the directives of the National Headquarters of the party as enunciated by the State caretaker committee Chairman Alh Abdullahi Sanmari and go to their respective polling units and register”
“This exercise has nothing to do with factionaisation. We are one party, APC, irrespective of any intra-party disagreement which is a feature of any democracy”
