A passionate appeal has gone to the Kogi State Government to provide security presence at Iyamoye Community in Ijumu Local Government Area of the State.

President of the Iyamoye Development Union, I Alhaji Gbodi Adamu made the appeal in a press statement as he laments that Iyamoye in spite of its been a boundary town and with Ekiti and Ondo States has remained over the years without a single policeman on ground and resulting into the frequents trans boarder crimes being witness in the area.

According to him, this has resulted into theft of properties values at several millions of Naira.

Iyamoye, he noted is a fast growing community reckons in agriculture and trade with decent Police barracks and Police Station but unfortunately no policeman to utilize the facilities since they were transferred elsewhere.

He however, appraised the self help efforts of the community but pleaded has to aurgement for the protection of lives and property.

“Iyamoye is the home town of late Assistant Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Ahmadu Sheidu, his house were among properties vandalized recently, one would think he deserved that singular honour of police protecting the community.”

According to him, a date has been set aside during the Easter break to honour illustrious sons and daughters of the community who have committed themselves one way or the other to the development of Iyamoye in community.

“The occasion is to reciprocate the individuals that have brought succor to the people by making the community comfortable to leave in, it will also be an impetus to encourage others into community work.

Alhaji Gbodi Adamu further disclosed other areas the community is looking into Government for assistance to include the dilapidated Iyamoye community secondary school to safe education in the area.

To him, with the support of the sons and daughters, his executive has progressed work on the community multipurpose town hall, repairs damaged boreholes, initiate youth empowerment, roads maintenance, influencing posting of youth corpers among several other on going projects for the community
