In continuation of their nationwide consultations with States Assembly Members elected under the platform of the All Progressive Congress in the country, the Kogi State House of Assembly delegation for Governor Yahaya Bello’s Presidential ambition has visited Jigawa state to canvas for its support.
Meanwhile the Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Idris Garba Kareka has expressed his confidence in the ability of Governor Yahaya Bello to steer the ship of Nigeria to an enviable height if supported to emerge as the President come 2023.
The Lawmaker disclosed this yesterday in Duste, the Jigawa state capital when the Kogi State House of Assembly delegation led by Rt. Hon. Prince Matthew Kolawole paid an advocacy visit to the State Assembly to woo them in support of Governor Yahaya Bello Presidential ambition in 2023.
According to him, Alhaji Yahaya Bello being a young, vibrant and dogged leader, has been tested and can be trusted hence he is dependable.
He said Kogi State Governor is not new to them having be in the state during his second term primary election which was conducted by Governor Mohammed Badaru of Jigawa state, stressing that his youthfulness and vibrancy cannot be wished away, promising the Kogi Assembly to count on their support for the project.
He advised the Presidential hopeful to continue to maintain cordial working relationship with their Governor, who is the leader of the state, pointing out that the 30 member State Assembly in Jigawa state are all members of the ruling All Progressive Congress.
He commended the Kogi State House of Assembly for taking a bold step in moving round the country to galvanize support for their Governor.
Earlier, Rt. Hon. Matthew Kolawole said they are in Jigawa state to solicit support for Governor Yahaya Bello, as he would be the best Candidate to rule Nigeria in 2023 considering his age and achievements in the area of security, education, health, civil service reform and Infrastructures development.
Kolawole said that Governor Bello has performed admirably and won several awards especially on security which indicates that he can handle the security challenges in the country.
The Speaker explained that the North Central region have not tasted the position and therefore urged the northwest region to support one of their own in the central to be given a chance to lead the country.
“We in the Kogi House of Assembly have robust relationships with the executive arm. For best functionality you need cordiality with other arms. Our Governor is the youngest and doing well including security. We are bordered by 9 States”.
“We have passed a vote of confidence in him. We went further to look at the geopolitical zone in the country. We passed the resolution that our governor should be the first to contest for president in 2023. We feel he can handle this country. Let there be fair sharing in the position. North Central should produce the president in 2023. We urge the members in the State that the North Central should be considered for the presidency in 2023. We will talk to our party leaders.we should give the young man who is at his peak the opportunity to rule Nigeria, Kolawole said.
On the stand of Governor Yahaya Bello on Covid-19 pandemic, the Speaker explained that the Governor did not say there is no virus called covid-19 but he believes there are better ways the pandemic can be managed not to affect the economy the way it is bringing the economy down now.
He said Governor Yahaya Bello don’t believe in locking down the economy considering the aftermath effect which will be dangerous to the growth and development of the country at large, stressing that Kogi State Government is observing the protocol the way it should but don’t believe in the way the virus is being celebrated, that whoever is sick should go to the hospital for treatment.
He said to encourage the medical personnel in the state, the doctors have started enjoying COMNESS a special salary scale to boost their moral.
The delegation also visited the Deputy Governor of the state, HE, Alhaji Umar Namadi in his office in Duste to brief him why they were in the state.
