Sir Ahmadu Bello’s driver dies at 85

Aliyu Kwarbai, personal driver of the former premier of northern region Sir Ahmadu Bello, has died at the age of 85.

The Sarkin Mota died on Wednesday at his home in Unguwan Sarki, Kaduna North Local Government Area of the state.

At the 50th anniversary of Arewa House in Kaduna, Kwarbai was recognised by the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar as the man who drove the first and only premier of northern Nigeria.

He is survived by wives, children and grandchildren.

Ahmadu Bello was killed in the January 1966 coup.
