Kogi poly student's leaders meeting with committee ends in deadlock

The meeting between the students Leaders of Kogi State Polytechnic and the committee set up over the increment in tuition fee ends in Deadlock.
The meeting was held at the Council Hall, Kogi State polytechnic Lokoja where the committee was Chaired by Mr. Sanni Issac the Dean, Directorate of Student Service.
Other management members of the committee are Mr. Onoja Abutu (Bursar of the Polytechnic) Dr. Onamah (Director of Academic Planning), The Chief Liberian, The Chief Security officer and The School PRO.
Student’s Leaders present in the meeting was Comrade Umar Jafaru Omeiza (SUG President) Comr. Agada Noah (NANS Treasurer) Comr. Musa Mustapha (Nakoss President), Comr. Emmanuel (Public Admin President), Comr. Moses Opel (Naloko President), Comr. Ismail Ilyasu (Nakoss Secretary), Comr. Mahmoud (SUG Vice President), Comr. Opportunity (Nabam President), Comr. Yusuf (SUG CSO) and Nakoss Senate President.
One of the committee members who is the PRO of the school Mr. Yakubu made the union to know that there was no increase in school fees that it was an introduction of some levies where the Union leaders disagree with that assertion that the lay man language of the students is increament in school fee.
According to the committee, the introduced levies are N2,000 Convocation fee for ND and N3,000 for HND, Entrepreneurship N2,000, Result Verification N1,500 and Insurance Fee N2,000.
According to the committee, the newly introduced N2,000 insurance fee is to replace the N500 previous insurance receipt that is been paid for which has not been included in the the tuition fee before now. That the management will be taking charge in insuring the students from now effectively.
The SUG President who is the spokesperson to the students leaders commend the effort of the management for complying by setting up committee to look into the issue as they will do their possible best in ensuring peace in the Polytechnic.
He stressed that his led administration is a negotiable administration that he feels a peaceful roundtable discussion is still the key to progressive administration.
The President also expressed displeasure over the huge increase in N500 insurance fee to N2,000 and appealed to the management to return it to the previous amount.
The students leaders also appealed to the management to cancel N2,000 proposed for ND2 students to be paid for convocation that ND graduating students do not convocate.
NANS Treasurer Comr. Agada Noah commend the effort of the management over making sure that there is peaceful coexistence between the management and the students and pledge that the students leaders will continue to support the management in ensuring there is absolute peace in the Polytechnic.
He also appealed to the management to extend the date in which late registration kicks up before additional amount would be added. That the situation of the country as a whole is one of the plight hindering fast payment of school fees.
Finally, the Student’s Union Leader Comr. UMAR JAFARU OMEIZA charged the committee to look into all identified levies and proffer a favorable solution immediately.
He also charged the committee to swiftly report back to the students leaders after meeting with the management and the Governing Council of the Polytechnic. That the Union is going to submit the official position report to the management through the committee in no time.
Mr. Sanni Isaac who is the committee chairman applauded the union’s maturity on the decision to make dialogue with the management rather than violent. That all discussed will be immediately communicated to the management.
