Pays Glowing Tributes To NASS Leadership,Past Leadership Of The Commission.Set To Establish NASC Clinic
The National Assembly Service Commission NASC Chairman,Eng Ahmed Kadi Amshi FNSE has rolled out a comprehensive revised code of conduct for staffers and promised a robust data base to check staff records.
Engineer Ahmed Kadi Amshi made this statement while delivering his speech in an elaborate ceremony to mark the 20th anniversary of the National Assembly Service Commission NASC held at the commision’s headquarters,Jabi Abuja.
To this end,it will establish a staff clinic in the commision to attend to emergencies and other minor aliments of staff of the ommission.
This is in addition to the concluded plans to digitalise staff records and data like the IPPIS and initiate a workable pension scheme for the staffs of the Commission.
He said the commission is poised towards achieving excellence among the staffers as reward for hardwork,dilligence and dedication to duty,therefore on assumption of duty,the current leadership increased departments from Seven (7) to Nine (9)..
The Executive Chairman assured the staffers of the commission of equal opportunity,saying it strongly believe in treating all staffers of the Commission as one united family .
Kadi paid glowing tributes to the NASS like and pioneer leadership of the Commission/commisioners and those that had held forth in the last two decades,saying staffs of the commission who served in the last 20 years are being honored for dedication to duty, diligence, hardwork and discipline.
Amshi maintained that the new commision at inception carried out a backlog of promotion, advancement and other benefits of the staff of the commission that paved way for those stagnated to attain their rightful places.
NASC Chairman stressed that training and retraining of staff was prioritised at the inception of the new commission,promising that it will continue in this trend.
He said the conditions of service was stabilised by implementing the 60 years of age or 35 years in service ,as top management staff position that was hitherto vacant was filled after due diligence inline with the civil service rules.
‘Restoration of stability within the Service by re-visiting/ implementing the retirement age of 35 years of service or 60 years of age whichever comes first for the staff of the National Assembly Service;
(iii) appointments to fill the vacant positions of Top Management Officers in the National Assembly;
(iv) clearing of all outstanding promotions, appeals and
disciplinary cases;
(v) the validation and the implementation of the financial
provisions of the Conditions of Service proposed by the Commission;
(vi) implementation of the National Minimum Wage for Staff of the Service;’
The new commision according to Amshi has cleared all outstanding financial obligations to the staff of the ommission which also included securing funds for the construction of the new beffiting headquarters of the commision due to commence soon.
‘Clearing of all outstanding promotions, appeals and disciplinary cases;
(v) the validation and the implementation of the financial
provisions of the Conditions of Service proposed by the Commission;
(vi) implementation of the National Minimum Wage for Staff of the Service;’
Eng Kadi reminded the staff of the Commission of the cardinal roles of the Commission which included appointment, confirmation, promotion and outright dismissal of staffers.
‘As we are all aware, the power to appoint, confirm, promote,
dismiss and generally exercise disciplinary control over
Officers in National Assembly Service is vested solely in the
National Assembly Service Commission.In this regard, we use
this opportunity to launch a Code of Ethics Booklet to guide
the activities of all the staff of the National Assembly Service.
It is expected that the staff will acquaint themselves with the
provision of this Code of Ethics and abide by them.’
He thanked the current top management and staff of the commission for their readiness to wok inline with the vision and mission of the current NASC.
‘As we march into the 3rd Decade of the Commission, let me at this
point solicit for your support, dedication, understanding and prayers so that we can achieve all the aforementioned programmes to better the lot of the Service.
We hereby assure you that we shall abide by the Oath of Allegiance
and Oath of Office administered on us by the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria and we shall also remain focused in carrying out our assignment with justice, fairness and equity as our watchwords.’
