Kogi state government has officially flag-off distribution of Medical items for malaria control and management programme in Kogi state to all the 21 local government councils in the state.
The Kogi state Commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Barrister Salami Ozigi who flag-off the programme at the ministry said is to kick-out malaria fever out of the state.
The Commissioner who was represented by the Technical Assistant to the Commissioner, Mr. Alfa Arome noted that the flagging-off of the distribution of malaria drugs and treated mosquitoes nets was a demonstration and commitment of the governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to kick out malaria from the state.
He stressed that the state government stance to invest on the health sector, which the 21 local government councils have adopted by distributing mosquito nets, drugs and other medical items free of charge in order to reduce the contact between mosquitoes and humans thereby improving the health status of the citizenry.
The Commissioner warned that the state government will not condone a situation whereby the drugs and other medical items are being diverted or sold contrary to the purpose intended.
He commended the efforts of the 21 local governments by embarking on the lofty project saying this is the essence of government which to meet the welfare needs of the people.
“The only way by which you can complement the efforts of the state government at improving the health status of our people at the grassroots is to ensure that these items are judiciously used” he said.
Good will message by Director of Local Government, Alhaji shaibu Usman commended the state government and chairmen of the 21 local government councils.
He noted that the materials will be judiciously used for its purpose.
The Ohigba of Mozum, His Royal Highness Kali’s Bukah commended the local government for their iniative and promised to ensure effective utilization of the drugs.
