THE West African Ceremics Limited Ajaokuta has awarded scholarship to 12 students in higher institutions across the country as part of the organization’s corporate social responsibilities.
The company also said that it will In the new year establish a technical college that would help train youths acquire vocational entrepreneurship skills.
The General Manager of the West African Ceramics Ajaokuta, Baska Rao made the disclosure on Thursday at the award of scholarship to twelve students in higher institutions across the country as part of the organization’s corporate social responsibilities.
The General Manager disclosed that when operational youths would be trained on indigenous technology and to acquire skills in other forms of fabrication.
He described youths as the future of any country’s technological advancement, described youths of Ajaokuta community as the fulcrum in the attainment of the organization’s objectives.
He lauded the peaceful disposition of the Youths of Ajaokuta community to the success story of the industry, says it is another way of rewarding their loyalty and for providing the enabling environment for the organization’s corporate objectives.
The general manager said a peaceful environment and relationship by the host community has gone a long way the operations of the West African Ceramics, pointed out that the organization has made it a policy to employ seventy percent of their staff from the host community.
He described well trained and skillful students as the backbone of the nation, little wonder why the West African Ceramics is not sparing any efforts towards assisting them in achieving their dreams of becoming quality graduates.
Baska Rao urged the students to make honesty, sincerity and hard work their focus, insisting that nation’s like China and India, depends on their young growing population in their technological advancement, said they should study to be problem solvers in making the country great
He pointed out that the scholarship which is the first in the series would accommodate more persons in the coming years, advised the beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunity, to encourage the organization to do more for others not captured in the first set of scholarship.
He noted that when the technical school comes on board it would assist others who are not in school acquire knowledge towards ensuring the organization and nation’s technological advancement.
Aside the establishment of the technical college, the organization he disclosed has plans to fix the Ofunene road in Ajaokuta, assured that the West African Ceramics would continue to partner with the host community towards making live meaningful for the host community.
In their separate remarks at the occasion, Alhaji Ahmed Samari, the Onuh Ajaokuta, Alh. Kashim Ibrahim, the Ward Head, Baba Adarun Musa, the Youth leader of Ajaokuta Community, Mohammed Bello Gambo and the Youth Chairman, Abdulrahman Balemo, all commended the West African Ceramics Limited for their corporate social responsibilities and in providing employment opportunities for youths of the area, urged for more in the coming years, lauded the organization for its plans to establish a technical college and in the repair of the Ofunene road.
